The Button Witness Archive

Where were you when the buy button disappeared?

The market explanation involved clearing, collateral and volatility. The human version was simpler: people opened an app and one side of the trade was gone. We are collecting that version, one memory at a time.

Yesterday your platform had "a technical issue" when $GME took a dip.

Today you go one step further by disabling the [Buy] button for $GME altogether. Are there any honest and competent eTrading platforms out there? #WSB #gamestonk #GameStop @eToro @wsbmod

NEW: The CEO of Webull tell us the decision to join Robinhood in restricting AMC and GameStop trades came from soaring costs to settle its users trades:

"It wasn't our choice ... this has to do with settlement mechanics in the market."

Robinhood said they would allow people to buy limited shares of things like AMC (115) and GameStop (5). If you already own that amount, you wouldn’t be able to buy more. I own 96 in AMC, I can’t buy more. Others are reporting they can’t even buy 5 of GME.

Robinhood just updated their "restrictions" and told me I cant buy AMC stock or options tomorrow because I have more than 10 shares. This is lunacy. Vlad better go to prison for robbing us like this.

Robinhood won't let me buy or sell hardly any $GME so I decided to make money my own way. If I can't buy stocks, I'll crank out Sonic videos until I turn a profit on Twitter. 📈💎🚀🚀🚀

I can’t quite remember, but I do remember tweeting and thinking, “This should be a movie.” It felt like proof that the game was rigged when the buy button was disabled—probably not even Robinhood’s fault, but powers over their heads controlling them. That made it even more sketchy when they eventually basically said that was the case.

Try one small detail.
