# External review policy

## Purpose

External review is used to test specific historical, market-structure, legal-form,
and interface-history claims in a fixed edition. It is not a request for project,
token, or investment endorsement.

## Independence

A reviewer must disclose any project role, token position, paid relationship, or
other material conflict. The publication is produced by The Buy Button project,
which is the subject of Part IV. Reviewers must have no project role or financial
interest in BUY while conducting a review.

## Scope

Every request identifies:

- the exact PDF filename and SHA-256 hash;
- the pages and claims under review;
- the reviewer’s relevant qualifications;
- the deadline and any fixed honorarium;
- whether the report may be published in full.

An honorarium, if offered, is paid for the work and does not depend on a positive
conclusion. A reviewer’s name is not used in marketing without separate written
permission.

## Record

The publication will preserve the report, the reviewer’s disclosed conflicts,
the publisher’s response, corrections made, and unresolved disagreements.
Corrections create a new, clearly versioned edition; published files are never
silently replaced.

## Claims

Until a completed review record exists, the book is described as “not externally
reviewed.” If a qualified reviewer completes a bounded review, the wording is
“externally reviewed for [exact scope] by [name].”

The phrase “peer reviewed” will not be used unless at least two genuinely
independent subject experts complete review under a documented policy and their
scope and reports are public.
